Man
it's been a crazy week. Sister Craft was sick all week but is starting to feel better! The antibiotics weren't helping so on Wednesday she went to the doctor and turns out she had "Influenza B" and the antibiotics she was prescribed last week were for a sinus infection and that's not what she had, so they were actually making her worse. So she's been resting and getting better and I've been going out with members and the other Sisters all week. It's been crazy stressful and exhausting, but it's been good overall. It was kind of funny going into dinner appointments and having people keep looking behind me being like "where's your companion?"
We have 4 people on date for baptism! A couple, Kharyn and Cody are on date for the 30th. Kharyn is hilarious, she only calls us by our first names which is a little awkward, but she's super chill and she is pumped to get baptized! We went over the baptismal interview questions with her at our last lesson and when we asked her about the sacrament she was like "Oh! That's the sh**!" Haha she's awesome and has a strong testimony of Joseph Smith. I've only met Cody once and haven't had a lesson with him yet, so hopefully this week that will happen. He works for the military so he has a hard time making it to church cause of his work schedule. Someone else we have is Ralph, he's 13. Ralph's dad had a word of wisdom issue but has worked super hard to overcome that so he can baptize Ralph which is awesome! We were worried in the beginning about Ralph because he doesn't retain the lessons very well and he's had them all twice, but he told us at our last lesson that he wants to be baptized because he wants to follow Jesus Christ and he knows he will be held to a higher standard and be an example to his friends and the other boys. So that's great! We are really gonna emphasize the priesthood in our next lesson. We also have Brandi, and she's really great. She is super excited to get the Holy Ghost. Her husband John is less active, but he is there for all of our lessons and you can tell he is really proud of his wife. She always looks at him first to answer her questions and he does a really good job and is encouraging. She went to seminary and young women's when she was growing up but never got baptized and now she's decided that she wants more out of life! They went to the Provo City temple open house this past week and she said it just felt right! :)
We don't have normal church next week because of the Provo City temple dedication! I haven't, but we had to get special temple recommends for it. It's going to be broadcast in the stake center and they said it's going to basically be an extension of the temple. They also asked us to bring white handkerchiefs for the Hosanna shout! I don't know what that is yet, but it should be pretty cool.
This week we got to eat with a couple of poly families which was super cool! I love Polynesians. Haha! One of the Sisters from the North Stake, Sister Faaofo was with me and we sang a song in Tongan for the grandma. She was super impressed.
We had a meeting with the Stake President yesterday and he said something that I thought was pretty cool. He said that people think they move out here for work or family but really they are here to hear the gospel. If one person in a family gets baptized and is able to take names to the temple and do baptisms, generations of ancestors are blessed. Ancestors are guiding their family members here to Utah so that someone in their family can accept the gospel, and maybe that person leaves Utah after that, but now they are changed. I thought that was pretty powerful, especially with having served on Dugway and people always moving in and out for the army.
