Rachel is someone we have been teaching her for a while
now, last week she didn't come to church and Rachel loves church, so we
were confused. We had an okay lesson with her during the week, where she
opened up about to us about not praying because she felt like she wasn't worthy enough, that she has done too many bad things in her life
for Heavenly Father to forgive her and that He doesn't want to hear
from her, and that she shouldn't ask for anything from Him because she
doesn't deserve anything. These are all tools and lies that Satan
tells us to keep us from praying to Heavenly Father. We asked her to
pray and ask Heavenly Father EXACTLY how He feels about her and to let
her know it. We got a text a few days later telling us that she had
prayed, and that now she knows how her Heavenly Father feels about
her and how much He loves her!! We went to see her yesterday and she
was telling us about some great changes she has made in her life! She
let go of some friends that were not a good influence on her and
had a great interview with the bishop and she is doing really good!
It was amazing to see that Heavenly Father answers people's prayers!
Also, our investigator Don was supposed to be baptized
this next week, but his divorce still has not gone through yet so we have
to push the baptism date back again, and now he is very discouraged.
He cancelled our appointment this week and we didn't see him at church
and so we were worried and concerned so we fasted for him and for
his situation. Today, we learned that although he is discouraged, he is
not giving up! He wasn't at church because he went to his friends ward
in a south Jordan and he is frustrated because we wants to be
baptized so badly! So he is flying out the Ohio in a few weeks to get things
settled once and for all! It just goes to show that Heavenly Father
was taking care of him the whole time!
We had so many wonderful experiences this week that let
me know that the Lord's hand is in our area and in the lives of the
people we teach. This is HIS vineyard and these are HIS children. I
like being a missionary so much and getting to see proof everyday that
God is real and that He cares about His children and wants to be a
part of our lives! All we have to do is let Him in and trust Him, and
have confidence in Him that He will take care of us. We can
show Him our trust and confidence by following His commandments. I
love this gospel so much and I'm so thankful to have it in my life and
have the opportunity to share it with others. I'm so grateful for
Heavenly Father and all the help He has given to the people out
here that I love. Seeing them find happiness through God has made
every part of this adventure worth it. This gospel is true! Jesus
Christ is the way!
I love you all and I hope you have an awesome week!!!
Love,
Sister Abby Martinez
