Hey Dad! Sorry this email is going to be really short and
really fast because I don't have a lot of time today because I need
to pack! I'm being transferred to covering the Tongan Stake with my
new Tongan companion, Sister Afungia!! She is from Texas and she is
super sweet.
So, just a couple things, I don't know my new address yet,
but, I will get it to you next Monday. There are a few things I need from
home if you could please send them to me I would really appreciate
it!! Before I left on my mission I bought a big thick scarf ... It's plaid, and has lots of colors in it and looks kind of like
Burberry. That's a brand, if you google it, you will see the pattern that they use and a picture should should come up. It's tan, and has green,
red, black, and maybe blue in it? I don't really remember. Also, I
sent home a thick cream scarf last winter, if you could include that
that would be great!! And my tall black boots!! If you have any
questions about what I'm describing you can send me pictures and ask, or ask
Jenny.
I am so happy I will be staying in the Polynesian wards... You
don't even know. I love the people and I love the culture and I
think I'm finally figuring out what it means to have faith. This
week so many things happened that I had mixed emotions about. I
received so many undeserved blessings. As much as I've learned about God
and his nature, I realized that I can't predict him and that
that's what I have been trying to do lately and I was getting so
frustrated. But confidence in the future doesn't come from knowing what
God is going to do or having revelation. It comes from having FAITH.
And TRUSTING that God has something great in store for our future, and
hoping for the best, and working like we are going to have it. My
companions here have taught me so much. Sister Faaofo is a silent strong
example, and sister Neemia never pretends to be anything but herself.
They are both so amazing and we have a quite the companionship. Even though
we have had our fights and rough moments during this transfer, I consider it a
success because in the end we have learned how to work together and
balance each other out and to give and take. Of course, here is always room
for improvement, and I really wanted to stay with them
another transfer because we JUST figured out how to work together and I
love them so much and I love the people I've met here. But that's okay
because the Lord needs me elsewhere.
Our day's are usually really busy so I haven't been able
to write much this transfer so I'm sorry. With 3 of us it's takes
longer to decide what we are going to do and to actually do it. But I'm
doing really good dad. :) I hope you are doing good too! How is St. Louis??
How is New Mexico??? How are you doing!! ARE YOU EXCITED FOR GENERAL
CONFERENCE!?
I am so excited!!! I'm going to be taking lots and lots
of notes. I can't wait to talk to you about it next Monday :) You are
the best dad in the whole wide world and I love you!!!
Love,
Sister Abby Martinez
