Well, it happened... I got transferred!!!
I am going to the Tooele West Stake and my new companion
will be Sister Craft. I know her a little bit because she was in my district
for my first transfer. The west stake is relatively new and has only been open
4 months. It's a biking area which I am super excited for!!
:D Sister Romero is going to stay in the South stake AND
she's getting the Tooele Stake as well! So she will be covering 20 wards! And
she's going to be an STL again! An STL is a Sister Training Leader, so it's
like a Sister Zone Leader pretty much. It's defiantly a lot but I know she can
handle it. I just wish I was sticking around to help because it's such a huge
area and I already know half of it! :P There is a fight song for one of the
high schools out here that has a line at the end that says "Forever and
forever in Tooele". We take that quite literally out here because once
they send you out here you stay out here for a while! So I will probably be in
Tooele for another 3 months at least.
The West Stake isn't that far so I tell people I'm
basically moving down the street from my parents. Haha!
I'm really bummed to be leaving this area, I love the
people we are working with so much. One of them is a 9 year old girl named
Trinity.
She is the only one in her family who isn't baptized and
we always thought that it was just because she is scared of water. We have been
teaching her for a while now and after our last lesson her mom pulled us aside
and said that they have had many sets of missionaries in the past but we are
the first ones she has said yes to and that she prays for us and looks up to us
and now it breaks my heart that I'm leaving because I'm worried she might not
get baptized... She's a shy girl so we had no clue she cared about us so much.
That experience touched my heart this week.
We have had super nice weather this past week. Mostly
sunny and around 45 degrees. Everyone told me not to put my winter clothes
away though since it probably won't stay. Utah's weather is so bipolar.
This week was kind of rough numbers wise. I got a little
frustrated with myself this week because I've been out for 3 months now, surely
there is suppose to me some big monumental change by now right? I'm suppose to
have some sort of epiphany or at least know how to teach really well. But I
learned that I was not called to this mission because of experience that I have
had or because I'm suppose to already know how to help these people. I was
called here because I posses the starting pieces that Heavenly Father needs to
mold me. I might not know how to help the people of Tooele, but Heavenly Father
does because they are His children and he loves them. He knows exactly what
they need. If I do all I can to love them and learn about them, and then go and
seek Heavenly Father's guidance on how to best help them, He will send me the
Spirit to reveal to me what I should do. But, I must be humble enough to seek,
ask, and act.
Well that's about it for this week! I love you all so
much!! Hope you are doing well and I miss you all!!
Love,
Sister Abby Martinez
