Today is my last day in the
MTC and tomorrow morning I take a bus and train to my mission president's
house. We leave the MTC at 7:35 am. So much has happened. The MTC has been
amazing. I have loved every minute of it. I have gone through trials and
received blessings and there have been MANY growing moments. But it has been
wonderful here. I'm very sad to be saying goodbye to my district and teachers
but since I don't do goodbyes it's just going to be "see you laters".
I'm scared and excited to be going out into the field, but I know I can do it
all with the Lord's help. The biggest lesson I've learned while being
here is that I am not the teacher, it's the Holy Ghost and we just bring the
Spirit into the lesson.
I have developed a new love for the scriptures while
being here and have many new favorites. D&C 50:24 is a good one and I
encourage you to watch Elder Bednar's talk on light where you uses that
scripture. We watched a talk of Elder Bednar's yesterday at devotional and I
kid you not it is the best talk I have EVER heard!! I want to frame it put it
up all over my room! Sadly, it is not available anywhere and is only shown at
the MTC. It is called the Character of Christ and he talks about how whenever
we feel the inclination to turn inwards and think about ourselves, that's when
we need to turn outwards and help others. That's exactly what the Savior did.
Even when He was suffering the most unbearable pain, instead of focusing on
Himself, He focused on helping others. I LOVE THAT. That is one of my new goals
if to turn outwards and not inwards, as I listened though I thought to myself,
"Even if I do that though, it doesn't change the fact that I'm still
hurting or discouraged and need help. What do I do then?" Then the Spirit
answered my question later while listening to the talk, THE ATONEMENT. That is
where we turn to for comfort. Christ knows EXACTLY what we go through
because he bore ALL our sins, and He is the one who we should turn to to pick
us up. I love the MTC so much, there is so much information to absorb! It's like
trying to drink through a fire hose. You get some water, but most of it hits
your face. Well, I got to go but I love and miss you and everyone back home so
much!!
The church is true, the book
is blue, and Moroni's on the ball.
D&C 50:24 That which is of God is
light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more
light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day.
I did a search of the the talk by Elder Bednar that Abby references and I was able to find a transcript of it but no video.
