This week was really eventful! For one, we got transfer
calls and I'm finally staying in my area again! And with my companion!
That's right, Sister Harvey and I get to stay together in a West
Jordan. But wait!
There's more... we also get a new companion! We are gonna
be in a trio with a new sister, Sister Manea from Hawaii. This is be
her second transfer. We are super excited to get her, it's gonna be
crazy and a lot of fun. And thus, my equal ratio of companions to
transfers remains in tact.
Our investigator Don got engaged to his girlfriend
Connie! We are so excited and happy for them! Connie is a stalwart member
of the church and comes to all of our lessons with Don. They are so
cute because even though they are both in their 50s they still act
like teenagers in love haha. Don continues to amaze us every time we
teach him. This week especially when our lesson was on tithing and fast
offerings and he was upset that he has to wait until he is a member to
pay his tithing.
So last night we went to a musical fireside, the last one
put on by one of my favorite missionaries who is going home. Divine
Heritage sang and it was amazing as always. If you have never
heard of them pause in your reading of this email to go look them up.
Sister Harvey and I sang as well and it was really fun.
It was an emotional night. So many mixed feelings. I'm
still in awe that I'm out here doing what I am doing. Getting to talk
about and share my testimony of Jesus Christ, and inviting people
to follow him and change their lives. I don't think I will ever stop
being in awe of the calling that I have right now. Something that was
said at the fireside last night was that "As missionaries, one
of the most important things we do is that we become friends with the
people we teach. They become as much a part of our lives as we do
of theirs.
Which is what makes it so hard to leave." The people
I have met out here on my mission mean the world to me. All of you that
receive these emails. I want you to know how much you mean to me and
how much I love you. I never could have imagined all the ways that God
has blessed me by giving me the opportunity to know you. So thank you.
Our portion of Zion continues to grow and thrive out
here, we are going to start doing a lot more with the youth now that
there will be three of us.
Also, we taught Primary yesterday and when we asked
"what are some good things we can think about?" A little boy in the
front row answers "Well, certainly not Satannn ππ»♂️"
<-- hand motions included. Haha we thought "yes Johnny, certainly not." It was
cute.
Well, I love you and I hope you have an amazing week!
Love,
Sister Abby Martinez
